Bee Branch Animal Ranch is a working ranch and guest lodge on 160 quiet acres in Tishomingo County. No resort. No noise. Just open pastures, free-roaming animals, and the kind of stillness that makes you forget the date.
Morning light over the north pasture
Bee Branch Animal Ranch sits along a quiet stretch of Bee Branch Road in Iuka, Illinois — a town so small the post office double as the community gathering spot. The ranch has been in our family for three generations, and it has always been what it is now: a working piece of land with animals, a lodge for guests who want something real, and no interest in becoming anything else.
We opened the doors to travelers because people keep telling us they came looking for exactly this — no frills, no performance, just a bed after a long drive and a morning where the only alarm is a horse whinnying at the fence line. That is the whole promise.
Each room is furnished simply and named for the animal that lives nearby. Shared common spaces encourage conversation — or silence, however you prefer.
Sunlit corner room with a view of the pasture where the mare and her foal graze each morning. Private bath, fresh linens, and a small desk for writing letters you will never send.

The larger of the two upstairs rooms. Oversized windows frame the east pasture where the stallion patrols the fence line. Quiet at night. Warm by the wood stove.

A ground-floor room with two twin beds — ideal for friends, siblings, or anyone who values easy access and a view of the garden where the lambs play at dusk.

Up in the eaves with exposed beams and a single window that looks straight at the old barn. The best stargazing on the property. Best for one person who wants to disappear for a few days.
InquireAll guests share the kitchen, dining room, and porch. Breakfast is included — usually eggs from the yard, toast from town, and coffee that is strong enough to stand a spoon in.
The ranch is home to horses, cattle, goats, sheep, and a cat named Dust who runs the place with an iron paw. They are not performers. They do not pose for photos on demand. But if you sit quietly on the porch with an apple, one of them will eventually decide you are acceptable and come say hello.
Feeding time is at dawn and dusk. We invite guests to join — it is the best part of the day, and the animals notice when someone shows up consistently.
Afternoon grazing — the best hour on the ranch
Nothing is scheduled. Everything is optional. Here is what the ranch offers when you are ready for it.
Trail access right from the porch. Walk the fence line, follow Bee Branch to the creek, or just walk until you forget where you started. Maps are available at the kitchen table.
Guided rides through the back pastures for guests who have ridden before. Beginners are welcome on the gentlest horse, but we ask that you tell us upfront — honesty keeps everyone safe.
No television. No Wi-Fi in the rooms. A wood stove, a well-stocked library, and a porch that faces west. The stars are visible in a way they are not anywhere near town.
"The best vacation I have ever had. I didn't know I needed this until I was already here."
